Automation Policy

Per Announce News #5352, updates to our combat automation policy are now live and can be found under HELP POLICIES. The revisions are in section 15.15: Communication between systems.

Since we announced this update, we have had a number of messages and questions about specifics which we are going to attempt to clarify here.

AUTO-TARGETTING:

- Auto targetting does not force a game action and we consider it an acceptable use of automation.
ACTIONS TAKEN ON COMMAND:

- Examples include triggered blocking on command, using line of sight attacks, beckoning, or any other triggered response which can be ordered by someone else to force others to carry out a game action. This is considered playing for someone else and is no longer permitted.

- This only applies in combat situations. Giving artefacts on demand, providing runes, and such are all entirely fine.

AFFLICTION CALLING:

- Calling afflictions via PT is allowed provided it is done in judicious volumes. PT is an in character channel and we do not consider basic affliction reporting to be mass amounts of real time information.

- If you are sending so much information that you require it to be gagged by others, to the point where anyone without your gags is getting unbearably spammed: this is no longer communicating with a character but with a system and falls under unacceptable levels of automated information relaying.

- Clans built for the purposes of mass information reporting are not allowed.

Penned by My hand on the 21st of Phaestian, in the year 862 AF.
