Continuing our changes to ships and seafaring, we're pleased to announce
the following updates:
- Swashbucklers are here! These swarthy combatants will protect your
ship from those without at least boarding permissions and those who
assault your crew, in a manner similar to city guards. Captains can SHIP
CREW PACIFY to calm them down. Like other crew, swashbucklers can be
purchased at certain manned harbours. The number of swashbucklers that
you can have on your ship is limited by the ship's type.
- Drydocks have been added! Ships in drydock will lose all their crew
and may not be boarded, but will be impervious to all harm, will not
have any cost over time (either in gold or in stores), and will not
count towards the number of available berths in a harbour. Ships can be
drydocked in a manmade harbour by the ship's owner, or will be
automatically placed there by the harbourmaster after two years of
continuous docking at the harbour. HARBOUR DRYDOCK while in a harbour
will list the related commands. This is NOT available in natural
harbours.
- After being docked at a natural harbour for at least two continuous
years, ships will begin to experience accelerated hull and sail decay,
which will grow more fierce over time.
- Docking dates have been reset to today for all ships docked in a
harbour.
- SHIP STORES REMOVE has been reworked to be more user-friendly and less
confusing. Simply SHIP STORES REMOVE <#> <type>!
- Upon LOOKing (or similar) in a harbour, the list of ships will be much
more condensed.
- Ship weapons now have inherent cooldowns.
- Ship crew will now help adventurers with boarding perms depart the
ship if they are unable to disembark normally. [SHIP] DISEMBARK WITH
HELP [dir] [SWIM]. The latter arguments are only relevant if
disembarking outside of a harbour, and the requirements for disembarking
outside of a harbour in this manner are the same as if using the
ladders.
- The default cast length for deep sea fishing is now medium, rather
than long.
- Deepsea areas can now be effectively fished out. While you'll always
have a chance to catch a fish, those chances will be greatly reduced the
more fish have been caught in the general area. Given proper time, the
fish will return to the area again, and your chances of catching fish
will increase - though they will return at a slower rate than they're
caught.
As always, please report any problems or issues via the BUG command!
