We thank you all for keeping us high on the list at TopMudSites during
this voting cycle. Though the TMS rules prevent us from offering any
kind of personal incentives for voting, a high spot on the list -
especially #1 - injects vital new blood into the game. (Plus I hear
Thoth is offering foot massages for voters, but that is strictly a
rumour of suspicious origin and totally not affiliated with Achaea at
all.)
Sometimes, it must seem to some of you like we are constantly pushing
for new players and ignoring the existing ones, and I want to take a
moment to express our appreciation for the existing Achaea community.
Many of you have been adventuring here for years and years. I stumbled
upon Achaea over 9 years ago, and whenever I QW, it makes me smile to
recognise names still around from that time and before that time. That's
a long time to be playing one game!
What that re-affirms for me is this: Achaea is not a revolving-door MUD,
and its players are not a teeming, faceless, throwaway mass. Individuals
matter here. You're not just numbers - you can't just be replaced by a
new player.
Through our efforts to recruit new players, we do hold this in mind. The
experience and inspiration you can offer to new players is invaluable to
them, just as the energy and new perspectives of new players can be
invaluable to you. By voting for us, you are not helping us simply bring
in more numbers that make you less significant quantitatively. You are
helping yourself to bring in a potential new friend, a potential new
mentor, a potential new brother or sister in arms, a potential new
Ordermate, even a potential new Divine.
Thank you again for voting for us, everyone. TMS is one of the
absolutely best portals we have to bring in new players, especially ones
that are acquainted with MUDs, unlike other general gaming sites that
are not text-game-specific. Keeping Achaea high on that top list will
benefit us all.
