A new chapter

My time at Achaea is coming to an end, and so I bid you all a fond
farewell with the warmest of wishes.

This is not because of any conflict, be assured: not with the management
nor with the staff nor the players. On the management end: Matt has
always been kind and supportive and I appreciate the opportunity he gave
me here. Jeremy has been equally agreeable and I appreciate them both.
On the staff end: I was the first to propose that we bring on the young
lady who would become Maya, and I've always been her strongest
supporter. Her sense of 'Achaeanness' is extraordinary, and her
background without compare. She's perfect for what she's doing, and I
know she will do her very considerable best. I wish her all that is
good, and right, and yes, even holy. I don't know if I was the first to
propose Shaitan's move to staff. I think I was. But in any case I am
strongly supportive of his person and his work here. He brings a bunch
of things to the table that I never did, and I know a large segment of
Achaea is benefiting already from that. As for the rest of the staff,
from Lathis on down, this most recent set of immortals is probably the
largest and most pleasant I've ever enjoyed in my five and a half years
with Achaea. It's an excellent team and the players should be as pleased
as I am with them. And finally, not with the player end either. Sure,
there have been conflicts and a lot of unpleasant treatment over the
years, but the conflicts have almost universally been resolved for the
best, and many of those early conflicts have become top-notch allies of
the greatest staying power.

Why then? It's an opportunity I simply can't pass up, not in the
entertainment or game field at all, with the kind of big-company
benefits that are critical for staying afloat with the kind of family I
have.

I will continue here through the end of August, tidying up, answering
questions, writing down everything I can think of to pass along. As many
of you know, I can be a bit wordy (witness: a substantial part of the
help system) - so the resulting 'pass along' is already over twenty
pages in length.

For any needs I have previously filled, such as Seafarers' needs, or
general bug-related stuff, probably best to start with Tecton.

I will miss Achaea, and I will miss a great many of you all. It's hard
to contemplate going to a regular job after five and a half solid years
of being around for essentially every single meal with my two young
adopted sons. I will miss them too. A list of those of you who I have
had pleasure in knowing would surely be far too long, and I would hurt
someone's feelings by leaving a few out. So please forgive me if I stop
here and simply send you my personal, heartfelt blessing, for all that
that means, now and forever.
