The Shrine

In the times of Odysseus's ascendancy to power within the priesthood
he was granted the power to create Holy Shrines, and in a humble attempt
to show his devotion (as indeed the entire churches devotion) he went
about the awesome task of creating more and more awesome shrines which
priests and templars alike were more than happy to spend their days
sacrificing creatures of Achaea for the glory of the Gods.
However, with the rise of the Occultists and the general devious nature
of the Kharon, the faith in many members of the Church was shaken, in many
cases irreperably. the Church membership dwindled.
The tenacious ones, the brave, and the devout remained and in the face of
such odds, come would call us foolhardy. However, we battle on in an
attempt to stop mortalkind from slipping into damnation.
One major problem faced us....so little numbers, so many shrines. We
faced a bitter decision, now that a way had been discovered to reduce the
power of shrines...do we upkeep a few shrines and sacrifice the rest or
do we risk loosing all the shrines.
do we risk loosing all the shrines.
Sir Gawain and myself are responsible for the decision to allow certain
shrines to be either upkept or destroyed by the populace of Achaea.
The Shrines that are maintained by the Church are those at the Church
(as we felt that as this was a major focus point for the devotion of the
Gods that was, therefore, be adourned with such Holy structures as the
Shrines. The Ashtan Gate Shrine, which was also granted to mortalkind by
the Gods, was also to upkept, as most of the people of the Achaea pass
Ashtan Gate and are able to gaze upon the beauty of the Shrine.
It was not a light-hearted decision......we shed tears for every shrine
that was lost, but I ask you not to judge us to harshly. Our choice was
to save a few shrines, or risk loosing them all.
to save a few shrines, or risk loosing them all.
Please forgive us if our choice was foolhardy, we are, after all, only
mortal.
