I simply stated that oaths are for our security, just like any other guild, and we wish to spread our beliefs by those that wish to listen coming to us for guidance.
Point 4: I don't expect you to agree with my ways of life: I simply mentioned that it IS possible to coexist, the Seleucarian empire being my example. For during the time of the Empire, Severian himself addressed the issue, saying that true scholars realize dark and light are irrelevant in chaos, and that the Empire would have to learn to get along with the Occultists if they wanted to be successful.
Final Point: Someone mentioned that it is impossible to live in a society where the Church's ideals coinside with chaos. It is possible. In fact, the most successful army and society in History did it and even conquered *gasps* Ashtan and Shallam.

P.S. Before you yet again state that "It is impossible for the church to coexist or deal with evil", keep one thing in mind: not all Occultists practice the art of Necromancy. Some are quite content learning and studying Chaos in its essence.
As a matter of fact, I use necromancy not for utterly evil purposes: I use it to defend myself from those that would wish to do me harm. I use it to slay innocents so that I can bring down your revolting war machines whose primary use is to destroy what Occultists like myself have fought long and hard to defend (an interesting point in itself: by erecting more shrines, you are provoking me and many others to attack the innocent to bring the shrines down, thus it can be said that you are PARTIALLY responsible for every single screaming innocent child I send to death)
Indeed, Chaos can be destructive. When considering this, keep this in mind: 1.Humans and derivatives of Humans were spawned from the influence of a Chaos Entity, so even the ass would have to admit that Chaos does serve its purposes. 2.ignorance of the facts and bigotry can be twice the more destructive than Chaos could ever be
