I do believe that the power of devotion is drawn from the shrines
of Achaea, due to a "priest" or "paladin's" devotion to a god.

Not to bring up a dead subject (but maybe it isn't dead after all)
perhaps you could appeal to those Gods not represented by the
church to provide you access to devotion. I say that by devoting
yourself to one such god, you would deserve it.

Perhaps you may find others with your plight, those who feel that
their way lies with devotion to gods, but not with the church.
Perhaps you could form your own church of excommunicated priests,
so that others may worship freely and follow their own priestly
paths in peace.

Just a few perhaps, that I feel you should look into.
