I could be wrong, and I would imagine that you would know more about both the Priests and the Occultists than I, but I was under the impression that the Occultists were NOT the exact opposites to the Priests, and that they were merely enemies.
In fact, I was under the immpression that the forthcoming Guild of Magi are meant to be the opposites of the Occultists.
My own musings have led me to the impression that the Priests work a magic that is derived from the Gods, while Occultists work magic derived from death energies, chaos energies, and...well, other arcane magics such as Tarot. In help Occultists, I believe it says that the Occultists are constantly practicing newer magics, that they study more and more, all the time. Although I seem to remember someone saying that in a post a long time ago...perhaps that is where I got that from. At any rate, to me it suggests that the occultists can learn new things becasue their magic is derived from worldly energies, while Priestly magic is granted by the Divine, another reason why the occs are not the opposite to the Priests.
Of course, if I am wrong, please tell me.
