I'm going to address many of your points and
thoughts in no certain order, but I am going to
do my best to give you a better understanding of
Priest in Achaea.

The Priests are healers first and foremost of
all the things they can do. You say that you have never
seen a Priest heal anyone other then their friends, then
let me be the first to tell you that you are correct. You
have not SEEN it being done with your own eyes, but it happens
a lot around the realm. Whether it is just by the younger
Priest or by a elder one, it does happen. Time have changed
from the old days and the Priest can't just wander freely
and heal any and all because many attack them or refuse their
help. That is each individuals choice, but the Priest never
refuse healing to anyone.

As for your idea of a Dark Church...

Ashtan has the ability to form a "Dark Church" at any time
by just joining the guilds of the Occultists and Infernals. You
may have noticed <or maybe not> both the two guilds are the
exact opposites of the Paladins and the Priests. Infernals are
the Dark Knights while the Paladins are the Holy Knights. You
say that you feel that Occultists and Necromancy is more along
the lines of magic and mainly closer to the Magi then the Priest,
by stating this, it shows you do not have a full understanding of
either guild. The Priest and the Occultists are tailored to be
enemies and majority of our skills oppose the other. Our angels
are the death of Chaos enities and vise versa.

The ability for a Dark Church has always been there, but it just
has never been explored.

There was a statement made by Aaragon that he was told that if
he ever used his powers against the Priests he would be fought
until he quit the class. I admit to this being said and I will
stand by the statement until my death. Angels are a divine gift
blessed upon those who walk the path of the Priest by the gods. These
angels are beings of divine birth and of pure light. They are there
as guardians and as a symbol of the pure heart of the Priest she
protects. To enslave the angel and use her gifts against those
of her own kind is something that we are sworn to never allow, just
as Infernals and Occultists dont usually allow those who leave their
guild to go without punishment.
