Dark Church

Well first off, allow my to point out something which you have
missed. I called the tone of your note pompous and self important.
I did not call you pompous and self important, for all I know you
could have been having a bad night. (shrug)

As for why I called Vastar dark, my reasons are listed in the post
previous to this one.

Now...all I am looking for from Achaea is the admission that there
is a place in Achaea for a Dark Church. That there is a void in
our culture that would be filled by such an organization. If you
disagree with that, well I will attempt to convince you otherwise.

Now to address you Taliesin, I can see that we cannot continue
this debate/discussion/arguement until we both find some common
ground for what a "Healer" is. Your posts states that you consider

"Healers give of themselves by their very nature."
I say that this is incorrect. To support my disaggreement I will
give an example and an explaination of what I feel to be correct.

My example is this. If healers "Heal willingly, even total strangers"
then I have yet to see this. I have seen priests healing their
friends, but never have I heard of a case where a healer heals those
whom their friends are fighting. And if they truly cared about the
wellbeing of all people, they would heal all people regardless of
that persons actions. Also allow me to point out that there are
some who "give of themselves" willingly and often without thought
of themselves, and are not healers. No...a healer is someone with
the ability to heal when given the inclination. In some realms they
are called Doctors, in others they are Midwives. Some heal because
they want to, and some heal because they have to, and some still heal
because they recieve something in return. A healer is a being who
can heal others...and nothing more.

Now you did use the term "Spiritual Healer" in your note, and perhaps
this is what you were defining, and not just a healer. But there is
no where in Achaea that states that priests ARE or HAVE to be spiritual
healers. But assuming I might be wrong about that ( and please someone
tell me if I am and where to find such information ) then allow me to
say that you are defining "Spirituality" and thus "Spiritual" with a
view that is (however much you try not to make it) biased. Something
that is "Spiritual" only means that it is related or has to do with
either the immortal spirit or soul....or it has to do with religion.
Thus a "Spiritual Healer" need not be a giving or even a nice person,
depending upon his religion. Only that he heals and follows closely
edicts of his chosen religion.

But after all that talk, I understand that your debate isn't directed
at whether or not a dark priest COULD become...but whether or not
a dark priest SHOULD become. (By dark priest I refer to them having
all the same skillsets as a priest) But as I pointed out. Neither
healing, nor being spiritual is dependent on which god you follow.
So please...for my tired and aching mind...please tell me very
plainly and in fewer words than I seem to be able to write a post in.
Why shouldn't there be Dark Priests with healing a spirituality?
(after considering what I have written of course)

Oh, and no, I'm not intimidated by you...just frustrated. And
intrigued...at the age of 19 you seem to know far more of healers
and who and what they are than many of the elder priests who have
declined to comment upon my idea. It makes me think you perhaps have
an older soul....(just food for thought)

- Dream Shadow...who knows the word for something that's right, but
feels like the color blue when it's a fresh breeze under red water.

Penned by my hand on the 19th of Aeguary, in the year 250 AF.
