debating and the splinter church

There seems to be a trend developing lately, where any
disagreement is taken as a personal attack. Let me
assure you that I was debating your point, not attacking
you as a person. In my post, the only thing aimed at your
character in any fashion, was my statement that you had the
gall to make a particular point.

You accuse me of belittling you, yet have no hesitation in
calling me pompous and self-important. Interesting. Is it
the fact that I disagreed with you, that makes me a threat,
one which needs to be called names and belittled (precisely
what you accused me of doing...). If posting an opinion on
a topic which was being debated, is self-important, then verily
apply 56475
I (and most of those who have posted to this board) guilty of
such.

I entered this discussion in the hopes of some intellectual
conversation. And happily, have found some with others around
the land. If you truly wish to debate this, and not argue,
then I would be pleased to do so. If the latter, then like
others before me, I too shall surrender this board to the
truly pompous.

---To the topic at hand.
Perhaps I was unclear in my post. I am fully aware that
priests draw their power from the elemental realms. My
point was that Healers give of themselves by their very
nature. They heal willingly, even total strangers. In his
post, Khejian missed my point, buts his words prove it
nonetheless. He states that if he were a dark priest, he
would heal others, as one of them may grow in power and be
an ally to him. Can you not see the difference in motivation?
Do you truly think, that these abilities we have mean anything?
It is the WILL and THOUGHT behind any deed, that colour it, not
the deed itself. That is the difference between a truly
spiritual healer, and someone given the skill of Healing so
they may use and abuse it to advance themselves. I was debating
the reason WHY a dark priest should have healing and spirituality,
not what they would do once given it.

And finally, I tried to make it quite clear that I considered
you much more knowledgeable about the dark gods than I, although
In light of you calling Vastar 'dark' I may amend that to be
'more knowledgeable about Lord Twilight than I'. As for your
claim of prejudice, I refer you to my first and second paragraphs.
Disagreement in a debate does not necessitate that I believe or
agree with what I'm debating. I am not a follower of an deity, nor
'against' any, thus I can assure you, my viewpoint is not coloured
by any higher perspective.

Regards,
Taliesin.
