splinter church

You base the formation of this guild on a few
little ideas that the dark church would add to
playing field and roleplay environment - any new
guild can do that.

You fail to address (realise?) the inherent conflicts
between the Priest skillsets and the dark/evil philosophies.

A 'light' priest, has Healing, Spirituality, Devotion, they
are devoted Healers who seek to aid and support goodness,
replacing the spent energies of those around them from within
themselves (ie Healing and giving...).

Would a dark priest do the same? Perhaps, but unlikely. The
focus on self is too strong, the inclination to take, more
prevalent. If the priest doesn't give energy, but takes it
instead, what do we have? Something which suspiciously
looks like Necromancy (ie eating some poor sods heart to
gain essence).

Whilst I agree that a 'dark' priest can be devoted, I do
not believe they can truly be a Spiritual Healer in the
sense reflected by the current skillsets. This would
necessitate change to the skillsets that goes beyond
changing the guardian angel to something more appropriate,
(guardian imp? *grin*). By the time you are finished,
again, you end up with something pretty close to an
Occultist.

Your argument that the Priest guild doesn't allow those
who _would_ create this dark church to be members is also
rather weak. Many guilds have restrictive policies that
prevent some from doing things not in that Guilds interest.
Occultists must be citizens of Ashtan, Serpents/Snakes are
not allowed to sell certain venoms, the list is quite long.

I find it interesting that you, a Serpent, have the gall
to make this point, when your guild hunts any who leave
their ranks and choose to make their own way in the world.
To continue your own argument, why then are there no
'light' serpents? *ponders* Well gee, there might be if
your guild didn't persecute them or outlaw it.

I am not suggesting there should a 'light' serpent Guild,
I am simply making a point. Some guilds and philosophies
don't mix. 'Dark priests' and 'Light serpent assassins'
are amongst them.
