Shallam/Ashtan/Tylin/Church

Ahem

(This is my first public post in a long time (ever?) - so you can appreciate how inspired I was to post this short note.)

As neither a citizen of Ashtan or Shallam, and not being allied to Hashan or the Forests, I hope I can provide a less biased opinion than many of you (Gods excepted, of course!).

I do not know Tylin very well, although I have met him. I have also met and spoken to a number of members of the Church in the past (OK.... some of them WERE trying to remove my head from my neck at the time, but I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.). Shallam is a beautiful city, and I do visit frequently.

Tylin does bear a sizeable grudge against the Church, which he is entitled to do. As a citizen of Ashtan, he is also technically covered by the much-debated treaty. If he wishes to start fighting the Church in Shallam, that is his buisness, and he is either supported or unsupported by the Ashtan authorities. If Ashtan does not support him, then he cannot be expected to either abide by the treaty himself or to protected by it. If, however, he is backed by the Ashtan Council, then he is both bound by and recieves the benefits of the Treaty.

HOWEVER, the church has to adhere to these rules as well. If Ashtan washes it's hands of Tylin, then Shallam is fit to do as it chooses. Tylin is much more experienced than many of us, and at the very least deserves respect for his age and ability. If he enters Shallam on a killing spree, it is still dishonourable to team him. He does deserve the honourable privilage of single combat. Please do not say that he takes you all by surprise, because as soon as he passes Lodi, his position and status goes up on the Guild and City channels, for all to see.

Thank you for your time. I hope I have put a new perspective on things.
