With Gratitude

To the faithful of Targossas,

I write this in my own name, and not on behalf of the Archonate or Ashtan.

I find myself in the unusual position of owing you thanks.

I have spent a considerable amount of time studying Chaos, the inheritance
carried in the blood of Man, and the possibilities that inheritance may
represent. I had not expected Targossas to contribute so enthusiastically
to that field of study.

If the reports surrounding Tralden are correct, you gathered with holy
fire, clean water, prayer, and all the certainty of Light to scour from a
man that which you believed ought not be there.

And from your purification came Cinder.

That is remarkable work.

For all the warnings offered against Chaos, all the sermons concerning
purity, and all the certainty that such things must be driven from Man, it
would appear that your efforts have done rather more to advance Chaos than
to diminish it.

You sought to excise it and instead awakened something.

You sought to silence it and instead gave it a voice.

You sought to close the door and appear to have opened it wider.

There is a certain elegance to that.

Those who study Chaos are so often accused of recklessness, of tampering
with forces beyond their understanding, and of courting consequences they
cannot foresee. It is therefore deeply reassuring to discover that the
devout of Targossas are perfectly willing to perform the same service when
properly motivated.

So, sincerely: thank you.

I could hardly have asked for a more devoted group of assistants in the
advancement of Chaos.

I look forward to seeing what you accomplish next.
