Sentients of the Realm
Observe this day, the results of the Forge competition that the City of Mhaldor has hosted.
The submissions have ceased, and the Mhaldorian Ministry of Culture is ready to provide the winnings.
Those who submitted, the Ministry wishes to acknowledge your efforts and demands you try harder next time.
The winner of the competition goes to the Hashani known as AD, winning with their well designed fullplate armor.
Appearance:
fluted grey fullplate with a ruby-studded gorget
Dropped:
A sizable suit of grey fullplate is abandoned here in a mass of fluted metal.
Examined:
This armoured suit of fullplate is a mass of storm-grey steel, each
plate meticulously arrayed over an upper and lower liner of padded red cotton festooned in load bearing straps, their criss-crossing nature and deliberate arming points ensuring an even distribution of its considerable weight. The breastplate is thick, shielding front and back in sloped angles of heavily fluted plating, the elevated ridges protecting detailed engravings within the depressions portraying the many races of Sapience in states of toil, heads turned relative towards a black iron escarbuncle mounted upon the sternum. Sizeable pauldrons cover the shoulders, both curved domes moulded into androgynous visages with blank-eyed stares gazing vacantly skywards, their lifelike features enhanced by bronze inlays and 'ears' formed by serrated rondels protecting gaps in the rerebrace. A fixed plackart protects the belly, mounted separately without inhibiting breastplate movement by a combination of sliding rivets and tensioned straps, shielding vital organs behind an immovable wall of similarly engraved metal. Segmented faulds continue below, encircling the waist and flaring out as long,
protective tassets partially obscuring cuisses embellished with
bronzed-scrollwork, weighted by lead inserts at their very tips. A thick gorget encircles the neck, crowning the suit with a tall band of hammered steel studded with seven thumb-sized rubies, glistening like pools of blood within armoured housings resembling slender hands clasped in prayer.
The runner-up is none other than the Unholy Proselyte Morgaen with a shield worthy of Mhaldorians.
Appearance:
a scarred cavalry shield with severe etchings
Dropped:
A weathered cavalry shield sits seemingly forgotten.
Examined:
Toeing the line between size and versatility, this elliptical shield is tall enough to cover a torso and heavy enough to deflect a spear, yet short enough to maneuver astride a mount and light enough to carry for long periods of time. It may have once been a fresh, shining paragon of defence in a smithy, but it now bears the numerous scars of theological warfare. Its edges are notched by the gashes of turned swords, its face singed by fire, acid, lightning, and more. While its deformities weave a tale of enduring battle, none speak louder than the sharp, meticulous etchings that neatly follow the shield's rim. Its left hemisphere proclaims, "The spirit may be made stronger by enduring hardships," while its right asserts, "Through Hardship is His will endured." The top of the shield, however, is dominated by a carving deeper and larger than
the two others, further magnified by blackened gold:
"Dha'vroth'su'golrath."
The Winner will be awarded 50 Unbound Credits, a personal copy of "How to be Mhaldorian", and invite to visit a sermon.
The winner needs to contact the Council of Mhaldor to secure their winnings.
The Runner-up will be awarded 500,000 gold pieces.
And so this year's offer of contests for 1010 AF have exhausted.
The Ministry of Culture would remind you all that there are more competitions ahead, to include a new event that shall be announced next year. You word mongers and entertainers should be sure to pay attention for a special event offer.
Hail Lord Sartan!
