Results Of The First Millennial Spelling Bee

The much-heralded and not-anticipated first-ever millennial spelling bee was hosted last month at North of New Thera. Following an impromptu announcement by the incorrigible and delightful Tesha Young, the aspiring spellers of Sapience gathered to confidently put their letter organization and word formation skills to the test in front of the questionably literate masses. Special guests included the formidable hill giant speller, Fegrog of Eleusis, and the nearly sentient bees of Aesa Young.

Three intense rounds of spelling followed, with Tesha's subjective judgment awarding points to the elite orthographists. Aesa held a commanding lead going into the final round, and Gallus fled when he realized he was, in fact, not an infallible speller. However, Grounde and Fegrog remained tied for second, and a tiebreaker was needed to determine who would rival Aesa in the finals.

The undaunted Tesha rose to the occasion and sent out a call for guest judges, rallying Sir Kresslack and Adrik Bergson to her cause. They were tasked with determining who had spelled 'Nightmare' (Noytmahr) correctly between the dwarf and the hill giant. Adrik, fleeing as quickly as he came, left the decision to Sir Kresslack, who awarded the victory to Fegrog, confirming Groundea rocky spelling abilities.

The finals pitted the vocabulary proficiencies of Aesa and Fegrog against one another as they sought to spell and enunciate 'Constellation' correctly. Possibly assisted by her bees, and seeking guidance from the stars, Aesa emerged victorious.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the next millennial spelling bee in the year 2000!
