I will stand for justice, for fairness, for truth. I take it up as cause, and I know I am not alone.
A madness grips the minds of sentients, to view such things as outdated, pointless, false. I tell you now in earnest: you forget yourselves. Know that you are mad.
Violence begets more violence, unfairness begets treachery. Injustice brings strife.
Such qualities which we know to count as virtues (even as we deny their use) are not the whim of self-righteous pomposity. They are the tools of progress, of growth, of good change. Truth is not the subject of the deadliest sword-arm. It is the First Requirement to being able to navigate life. You must have solid ground, not quicksand, if you are to build anything that lasts. We each take our limited perspectives, and only in the joining of them can we discover the proper path forward.
Will will never be effectively imposed through force, just as truth cannot be. Force always falters eventually in time, and when tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.
Neither power nor dominion nor status nor life itself is loss enough to match the loss of justice and of truth.
The only failure is in giving up on such things.
