Let it be known to Sapience that, by the authority of Reyl Blackstone, Heir of House Blackstone, the child Janusara Hastren is taken into our protection as a ward of House Blackstone.

At the hour of her birth, her power rose beyond restraint. By necessity, I drew that power into myself through blood, and in that act a bond was formed between us. Through this bond, I bore witness to her power firsthand, and I shared in her divine grief at her mothera passing, not as hearsay, but as one who carried part of it. By this bond, I claim the duty of her keeping, and House Blackstone names it so.

I will not cloak this act in false virtue. There is selfishness in it as well, for I will not abandon what I have already carried, nor sever what blood has bound. Blackstone has borne much of the burden, but not alone. The Hearth has stood watch, offered counsel, and spent long hours to keep the child safe. Yet I place my name and House foremost upon this claim not to eclipse the Hearth, but to stand for it, and to answer for her safety with the full weight of Blackstone behind it.

As our ward, Janusara Hastren has the right to be sheltered, raised, and instructed according to Blackstone discipline and tradition. She is granted the rights of House Blackstone and shall be regarded as a child of the Hearth of Targossas.

Let the meaning of this be clear. She is of the Hearth, and the protection of Targossas extends to her beyond the walls of our House. This has been a shared charge, not the labour of Blackstone alone.

Those in good standing with the Hearth may speak with her and teach her of the world, provided it is done with restraint and care. Teachings of Oblivion, Evil, or Darkness are not to be pressed upon her. Should she one day seek such knowledge, it will be by her own will, and upon her own terms.

Any who would harry, coerce, or exploit the child shall be answered by House Blackstone, swiftly and without restraint.

Those who would contest this matter in public may spare themselves the effort.
The decision is made.
The duty is claimed.
And the responsibility is ours.
