Noble Intentions

I can find little fault in the cause to seek to provide for your people, but the paver of many road to ruin have been laid with noble intentions. You say you hold the Chaghut in greater respect than any other. Then it stands to reason you knew this would likely to draw their ire. Sometimes necessity forces our hand, but do not attempt to dress this act in the silk of noble intent. The other strongholds west of the Vasnari and north to the beach have found ways to provide and survive, and were wise enough to acknowledge the Chaghut's claim.

I too am Adaghun Daghalta. Friend of the Chaghut and protector of the Herd. I have also met the White Stallion, and ride upon a Chaghut stallion gifted me by the Noyan as a brother.

While I do not believe your intent is to conquer, what you attempt sets a dangerous precedent. How long before a few farms turn into the need for expanding reaches, born of necessity of more mouths to feed and to work the land? How long before others are emboldened by such efforts, and seek to carve their own portions of the Daoric? How long before the Chaghut are restricted to a corner of their ancestoral land? How long before there are no Chaghut?

You are right. Much ink has been spilled on this. After it has dried, the next chapter may be written in blood, as we choose the hill we are prepared to fight and die on.

There is nothing glorious about what comes next, but we will meet it regardless, as our duty calls us to. When the dust settles, perhaps the land you so desperately seek will not be so saturated with blood that it serves as nothing more than a reminder.
