Dear Queen Clytemnestra,
A few months ago, some Cyrenians (Myself included) stumbled across something very interesting while we were fighting our way across Arcadia: Quite an interesting alchemical experiment tucked away within the Arcadium Anthenum.
We found a set of alchemical tools, mortars and pestles and some ampoules.
After following the instructions that your alchemists so kindly left out, we were able to create a substance known as a cytotoxin. I am no scientist, just a humble playwright, but that does not sound like something beneficial to ingest or be exposed to.
Even more interestingly, and worryingly, were the notes that we found to accompany this lab:
Test the ampoule in one of the following bodies of water and record the results:
- The Coral reefs of Ka'doloki (Ocean)
- The source of the Muurn River (Lake, River)
- The shallows of Green Lake (Water, also near swampland)
I am sure that many of the people reading this recall that there was a time when the Green Lake was poisoned, covered in a green film that destroyed the creatures that touched it.
Something similar happened to Ka'doloki too. A winged woman was seen near the shore and then the fish began to die. Dozens of villagers can attest to this, and many adventurer witnesses can back this up after speaking to them.
At the time, I am sure a lot of us assumed it was likely Gaderian doing his favourite thing of poisoning water supplies, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was you, Queen, who decided to start slipping toxins into rivers and lakes.
I find this behaviour particularly cowardly and outright evil, personally. Being willing to destroy entire communities and entire natural environments out of, what I can only assume, is spite.
When some of us returned this month to verify the descriptions of the items in the lab, we did find that a lot of it had been destroyed, presumably because the Farethi found out that we had been into the lab and discovered what you had all been up to.
I am sure that this will be called a Nerai plot and part of Cyrene's efforts to de-stabilise Arcadia or whatever other conspiracy theories you would like to throw around but I like to think that those of you who know me know that my intentions have always been very honest and forthright. Images were taken of the lab and the equipment, if any proof is required.
Thank you for your time. Do not trust Queen Clytemnestra.
