In 23 days, we shall gather to honour a fallen warrior, a mage of Hashan named Khalayx.
We shall meet in the Market of Tasur'ke, the center of its public life.
I bid all fighters to carefully review PUBLIC 22224 for a full listing of the rules of the contest. Additional rules regarding forfeit, seeding, and Crystalism are at the bottom of this post.
The Lord Bard shall attend, and has promised a unique prize to the winner of the tournament in addition to the prizes previously stated.
To commemorate, Scarlattan Taelle Starling has been asked by the Lord Bard to capture the final duel in paint, and this work shall be displayed within Hashan as a gift to honour the valour of those who accept this Challenge.
I am pleased to announce that we have achieved a bracket of sixteen contenders. Seven are Magi, nine are not. This is a good mix.
The Magi:
---------
Countess Nezaya Visindi: Eye
Lord Bulwer Rian: Fist
Regent Aurola Rian: Monolith
Holocaust King Aegoth Aristata: Flame
Archmage Ashed Silverhand: Scroll
Tesha Young: Cube
Cleric Axios Aristata: Negation
Non-Magi:
---------
Artisan Naytorlin: Mushroom
Commandant Tabethys Aristata: Worrystone
Captain Kuririn Nightshade: Orb
Sentry Radakail: Dreamcatcher
Dragonslayer Elmer Fortuna: Key
Foreman Grakhir Rian: Bauble
Bunni Blackrose: Brooch
Sela, the Relentless: Star
Hikagejuunin T. Wineapple: Concealment
Thank you to our competitors. Your names are listed in order of sign-up. I am also grateful to see all cities represented in the bracket.
SEEDING
-------
Next to each name, you will see an object involved in Enchantment, a traditional trade of the Magi. I pondered how best to randomize this in a transparent fashion and I decided to assign each of you an emblem. To prevent confusion, I will not be changing them.
One of each of these objects will be placed in a top hat. Two objects will be drawn from the top hat, and those two shall fight.
After all fights of that round are over, the winners will have their sigils placed back in the hat, and we will draw at random again. This shall not apply to the finale for obvious reasons.
NO SHOWS AND DEPARTURES
-----------------------
Substitutions will be allowed prior to the conclusion of the first bracket, should there be interested parties and one or more unavailable fighters.
In the event that a competitor;
1 - does not appear or
2 - cannot stay for the full contest
3 - it is after the first bracket
4 - no substitute can be found during the first bracket
we shall still include their emblem in the draw. If it is drawn and they are unavailable to answer the challenge, the fight will be deemed a forfeit and their opponent will automatically advance.
In the event this happens for the finale, the third and fourth will have an opportunity to take the place of the missing finalist, in that order. If they are unavailable, then we will get creative. This contest will end in a final duel, one way or another.
CRYSTALISM
----------
Magi will be permitted a full set of vibrations with condition that it must be prepared outside of Tasur'ke, and between contests. Do not prepare vibrations within Tasur'ke as it may disrupt matches.
All contests with one or no Magi will begin in the Centre of the Marketplace.
All contests involving two Magi shall see one competitor on the Northeast corner of the Market, and on the Southwest corner of the Market, to allow both the ability to call in their vibrations without stumbling over one another.
Cataclysm is forbidden, everything else is allowed. Be sure you have your cube sigils.
----------
I look forward to seeing you all, and as a reminder, the contest begins four days prior to the Scarlatan 976 Serenade.
Due to the alignment of the stars and the planets, this now appears to be 20 Scarlatan 976. The actual time you were expecting is unaltered.
