I am pleased to hear that Lord Phaestus informed Your order that they were not to threaten or bribe our Senators based on their vote, although I think far too highly of our Senators to believe they would be susceptible to something so base.

As far as your opinions of our political decisions, since you are no longer Cyrenian, they are not relevant. We spoke several times of your exaggerated threats and bad temper while you were Cyrenian, and I warned that you would one day go too far. Killing the Imperiate over a decision with which you disagree, and threatening to return and hang her supporters, makes you no longer welcome in Cyrene. If you have any further information you would like to convey, by all means do so using news or other means, because if you come near Cyrene, you will be treated as any other enemy.

I deeply regret the loss of Lord Phaestus' patronage. However, He made His choice and that is His to make. While He was our Patron, I desired His advice and guidance, but He deemed not to involve Himself in our affairs except regarding His opinion of the Imperiate. While I may not understand His level of anger at Imperiate Keorin's use of the Occultist class for a whole two months, He considers that such a grave crime that He must separate Himself from our city even after Keorin divested herself of the class and suffered punishment for violating our law.

I hope one day, that breach can be bridged, but Cyrene has not ever been a city ruled by our Patron. It would violate our independence and sovereignty to remove an accomplished Imperiate based on our Patron's reaction, and especially to do so because of the petty demands and childish tantrums of some of His followers. The Cyrenian Senate and citizens will make our decisions based on reasoned consideration of the best interests of our city.

Senator Laedha Vorondil

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Lupar, in the year 853 AF.
