My formal apology

Written by: Unsworn Lanaya
Date: Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019
Addressed to: a young falconer

Dear falconer of the Mhojave and by extension, all falconers:

At eighteen years of age, I killed my falcon while dueling another knight. I was not aware of the sacred bond between knight and falcon, and did not understand what I had done.

I thought my falcon to be like any other steed or denizen of the land, easily replaceable at any moment for my needs or uses. Since my curses I have been told of the history of the knights and their partners they have had since learning the chivalric arts.

I can only sincerely apologize on a public forum in hopes you will hear me, even without the curses I tried to apologize in person. Before all this my despair and hurt of what I had done turned me to Gods foreign to my City and our beliefs, and I was prepared to go to any length to try to bring her back. Including deceit or twisting words to my own means to try and accomplish my goals.

I know now that I cannot and I only disgraced her memory. I am sorry of my misuse of what was entrusted to me and am sorry to the Gods Whose ire I rightfully earned.
