A Reckoning

Hear ye, captains of Sapience. Too long you have shirked your tithes to the Pirates of Meropis and we have let it pass. No more.

It was the Pirates of Meropis who protected Sapience from the Kashari warships. While others cowered aboard their ships in harbour, it was the Pirates who repelled the invaders of the distant lands and rendered safe the oceans you now traverse. The black flags flew proudly on the winds of victory and rightfully claimed what is ours.

To those able captains who wish to protect the oceans, join us. We will share the bounties of the sea with you. To those captains who lack the courage to do so, render to us what you owe. We will allow you passage to conduct your commerce with our blessing.

The black flags are on the horizon and if you resist, you will feel the bite of our mercilessness. You will fear the black sails that approach. You will know the cold embrace of the fathomless abyss and the silent watery grave that awaits you.
