Darthus' thoughts

Dear Everyone,
I have a few things to say about Darthus' post. I agree that Ashtan can claim the right to what happens in their city. I also agree that Shallam has the same right. My dispute is the idea that territory in between is a free for all.
I do not mean to say that Shallam has a claim to the land, or that Ashtan does. Neither has a clear right. However, to say that land in between is fair game re-creates the current system. If shrines are put up in Ashtan they are quickly defiled away. If shrines are defiled in Ashtan, they are sanctified right up again. Right now we have a free for all of the intervening land, and it is the main dispute of the war.
Although a solution is not immediately clear, there are a few possibilitie: The leaders of Ashtan and Shallam can sit down and draw lines on the map. This solution is not desirable because there will no doubt be resentment and complex misunderstandings. Another possibility is to set a number of shrines that may exist in Achaea and make sure the priests keep to that order. This is not desirable because it limits one of the mainstays of my guild, which is not an acceptable solution.
I suggest the following: Shrines may be erected anywhere along the highways, excluding places where their influence may reach into Ashtan. Also, shrines may be put up in Minia, Thera, and Hashan, but they may only be used to summon maces and other peaceful acts. I make the distinctiojn between mace summoning, something any priest must do to gaiun experience by hunting rats, and the like, and things like rite of demons and other offensive spells. Thus, both sides may be happy.
Regarding other areas in Achaea I would say that the church may put up shrines wherever they wish, since shrines in the wilderness do not really hurt anyone and give the wandering priest the comfort of their faith.
These suggestions make sense, provided we all have a bit of logic and understanding. I know there is little chance this proposal will be considered, but perhaps iot will form a jumping off point to future peace.

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Lupar, in the year 218 AF.
