What a mess!

I brought forth the Peace Act of Shallam with the best of
intentions. The idea was simple: Don't harm other players
within Shallam's walls. The amount of complication that arose
from this little idea has completely amazed me! By enacting
one law, I have weakened the ability of Shallamese citizens to
defend themselves and our shrines, and at the same time, angered
non-citizens because they are banned from the city. There are so
many loopholes and descrepencies inherent in the law, I'm not
even going to go into it. I used to be a man of few words, but
for some reason, on the night I wrote the law, I felt a little
wordy.

For your information, it was written that way not because I like
the sound of my own writing, but because I wanted to write it
strictly in character, referring to players as 'humanoids', in order
to differentiate them from non-players. Didn't work too well. It
was two in the morning when I wrote that thing. You ever write
something while you're drunk out of your mind, then pick it up
the next morning and have no idea what the heck you were saying?
Case in point.

The Public Peace Act of Shallam is hereby repealed. All those who
were branded an enemy due to violations of the Act will hereby
have your branding removed. This Law is making everybody angry,
and it's impossible to enforce, anyway. I now return you to your
city street combat.

By the way, if you're still holding a grudge against me, at least
let me get some levels back before you pound on me, alright? I'm
making an effort to make people happy again; give me credit for that.

I think I'll go forge something.

Oberon, a great Forger, but a horrible Lawmaker

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Sarapin, in the year 211 AF.
