ROOT-HUNGER

I met you only once-
Now my mind grows toward you
Like roots towards the hidden waters
Your name keeps moving through me
As wind through the cedar trees.
As moonlight combing the river
until everything that was dark shines.
I barely know you voice, yet it lingers
Like rain in summer soil, like the rolling thunder
Over hills and tranquil meadows.
You are the foxfire,
Burning hot through the dry grass of my thoughts
You are ivy at my ribs, a salty tide at my throat
A night orchid blooming too fast, beneath the light
Of a full moon.
I tell myself,
It's just the weather
It's only Hunger,
Only for my body mistaking lightning for a home.
But still - All Night
My heart turns to face toward where you are,
Like fields of flowers, following the Dawn.
Penned by my hand on the 4th of Sarapin, in the year 1006 AF.
