Gone and not forgotten

Great victories past and battles hard won,
I can no longer see them through the fog of time.

My eyes grip to dirty window panes,
A lifetime of scum clouds my view.

I keep them shut more often than not,
I see better that way, in the crimson dark.

Here I see what my eyes do not offer.
A ship, the sea, a face, love.

With my eyes closed, I still see you.
With my eyes closed, you are still here.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Lupar, in the year 1004 AF.
