The Golden Path

Addressed to: Everyone
By providence, or so I faithful deem,
Two callings now before my spirit gleam.
Both guided by the Light my heart has known,
Both set before me not by chance alone.
The first: to climb through trial, flame, and pain,
And earn the mantle of the Silver Dragon Queen.
Not for the sake of glory, pride, or name,
But that I might serve the Hearth through steadfast flame.
To bear its honor with a righteous hand,
To guard its purpose, and for Good to stand.
To let my strength be yoked to sacred cause,
In service bound to Light's eternal laws.
The second: harder still, and slower grown,
The shaping of the soul, the self, the bone.
The monumental labor, day by day,
To walk the longer, narrower, better way.
To become a beacon where the weary turn,
A living fire by which Hope still may burn.
To welcome Growth where once there may have been fear,
And hold to Righteousness when the dark draws near.
These are the charges set before me now:
Not lightly held, nor spoken as a vow
Without full knowledge of the cost they bear,
But carried with devotion, faith, and prayer.
If Lady Aurora's Light indeed has led
These purposes to where my feet now tread,
Then let me prove by labor, will, and grace
That I am worthy of so bright a place.
Let me not falter when the road is steep.
Let me not turn from burdens mine to keep.
Let me be tempered, steadfast, fierce, and true,
A servant of the Hearth in all I do.
And if one day my striving bears its fruit,
If faith and effort blossom at the root,
Then may my life stand as a lantern bright:
For Hope, for Growth, for Hearth, for Good, for Light.
Penned by my hand on the 9th of Daedalan, in the year 1001 AF.
