In my Imagination

Perhaps there lies a strain of truth in those words,
a premonition without any trace to hold onto.
The flitting sprite drifting here and there,
may have been more real back when such moments were rare.

At first I took no notice, then I recognized the sleight,
Years went past with no place for feelings to go,
does everyone love without seeing what stands in plain sight?
My outlet missed so dear will never again be there to know.

Every temptation heavier than before, arriving at the worst times,
broken promises and empty words are all that comes to bear.
A hardened heart for just a while, too afraid to see the signs,
forgetting it all in a moment, when she looked back to stare.

Not many understand the deep, while others settle for shallow,
How does someone who only knew depth, let go of a gem so rare?
With eyes like two galaxies, her light to cleanse my shadow
A love that lingered, though we never truly shared.

Rest Well Silzy
