Bitter NIght

Falling into depths of darkness,
mind grey and numb.

Waking in a desert,
aching from the blistering sun.

Restless and lost
once more.

Searching for what was
searching for the reason
I keep losing sight of the shore.

Music in mind,
pulling in all directions.

Miserable restlessness,
spreading like infection.

Icy mountains,
through forest and river.

But no messenger,
with hope to deliver.

So I keep wandering
these mirrored realms,
in wakefulness and sleep.

Yet every memory,
of every venture
in heart I will keep.

Voice lost,
and falling stars.

Strength failing,
light scattered as shards.

A reason to be,
is obscured,
unseen.

So put out the lamp,
let the smoke drift free.

Let the wick's ember
drown in the wax.

Dawn won't come.
Not for a long time.

So breathe in.
Breathe out.
Steel yourself.

This bitter night
will last.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Mayan, in the year 840 AF.
