Poetry News Post #5136

This is the last.

At the gates, my old enemy.
Walls crumble, I stumble.
As it smiles, lovingly.

Rising to stand, not at all grand.
My heart again, in it's hand.

Through shield wall, swords fall.
This, yet another battle call.

My troops past spent,
will long rent,
mind crooked and bent.

Why do you hate me so?
Why must I love?
Why, can't you let me go?

Let me die, old and alone.
Let me be, on my lonlely throne.
But you insist, into love I'm thrown.
Defenceless, wiery I've grown.

My doom visible,
your win inevitable,
the pain ... incredible.

Drag me off to Hell, once more you shall.
But this time, for you I ring the bell.

This is the last,
Away my heart I cast.
Into hands of one I trust.

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Valnuary, in the year 735 AF.
