In the Name of Duty

How often must we see
Truth twisted in the name of duty.
Would we ever be free
From this disregard of history?

Poor are the villagers
Hijacked are their home and destiny.
Pawns for the pillagers
Stuck in a big boy's fantasy.

Where are your new members?
Who came from the cities on scenting blood.
Left Hashan Park in embers (why blow up those poor trees?)
And soon quit for the cities once more as a squad

Why do you not instead cherish
Your lifelong members of many years?
They are not just snugglebearish.
They really are more than it appears.

They are your heart and your deep roots
Without which you are but a tiny warband.
Have faith in them and their pursuits
Or Nature becomes just a banner in your hand.

Duty is holistic.
Not just about the letting of blood.
It is not simplistic.
Violence is but a single facade.

Return to your people
Their minds their growth their destiny.
No place for a steeple
In Nature's wild and wordless legacy.

No more surprise charter.
No more coercion to say amen.
Think up a new charter
Agreed upon and written by men.

Greetings Eleusis.

This poor poem is written in hope of having consistent neighbours who will once more act according to actual circumstances as we mortals must if this world is to make sense and existence upon it fulfilling.

Hashan is a mortal led city. Though I cannot speak for it, I do not believe we are jealous with the control and responsibility we have over our own fate. Dealing with entities that are guided by mortal judgement is surely to our advantage.

It is easy to want to relinquish our lives to higher beings. To surrender and not try anymore. To stop looking at stars. To stop philosophizing with oneself. To accept written words from above as the region where our minds on their own can never reach and therefore should never dispute or surpass.

Do what is not easy. Help the mortal spirit shine brighter than anything in the cosmos. Some divine may support this. Others not. Leaders obsessed with control and personal vision definitely do not. Recognize which is which and decide if you will be man or pawn.
