The illness within the Darkenwood culminated in turning the Arachnoi
Queen Istishia into a loathsome undead creature. In the Garden of the
Gods, Twilight, God of Darkness, admitted that the undead were unwanted
side effects of His private efforts to cure the Darkenwood of its steady
decline. Both He and Demeter, Goddess of Nature, increased their efforts
to find a cure, both convinced that the answer lies in a hidden artifact
within Cyrene. A mysterious spirit appeared in Cyrene named Propasia,
offering clues to the artifact's whereabouts. For Nature's part, the
treekin were led by the Fianna into Cyrene, where they began to dig,
turning parts of Cyrene into ruin. Not pleased by this, Indalecio, the
Academician, gave heartfelt speeches in an effort to curb this
destruction. Undeterred, the treekin continued turning parts of Cyrene
into rubble. Finally, Blu the baby dragon turned upon the treekin,
killing one and driving the rest out of Cyrene. In turn, Twilight sent
the mysterious qlippah to silence Blu. However, protecting their beloved
baby dragon, Cyrene turned against those followers of the God of
Darkness who were controlling the qlippah. And, so, the mortal races
remain at a standstill while the Darkenwood sinks closer to eternal
death.
