The Apostates

Trapped within the altar, Xerimor was in danger of eternal damnation. It
was clear to the citizens of Mhaldor, through the recent visions and
signs, the sacrifice of a holy being would somehow assist in the freedom
of Xerimor. Many attempts to kidnap and slay priests were made, to no
avail, they could nay trap an angel within the sacrificial chamber in
such a way as to sacrifice it

It was at this time Azmodai, the Pit Fiend was procured to assist the
mortals in their endeavor. Using his powers he was able to summon the
priest Valeo and bind him to the room. The valiant Valeo refused to
assist the group, standing to virtue and denying them anything, despite
his perilous situation.

As a result, the gathering of Sartanites and Mhaldorians then brutally
beat and tortured the kidnapped priest. The pain was unbearable and
continued until his guardian angel was no longer able to idly watch his
sufferings. Summoning herself she made a valiant attempt to defend her
master, but Azmodai captured her, bound her to the altar and brutally
slew her.

The sacrifice appeased the altar and freed Xerimor. Upon his release,
Xerimor revealed his true design. With the altar, he could summon a
mighty daemon force and use it to enslave the world to his designs.
Evoking the power of the altar with the remains of the fallen angel,
Xerimor created a mighty rift, a pathway for the daemon hordes to escape
from.

During this time, the forgotten priest Valeo, was able to recover his
senses. In the midst of the summoning he called upon his holy mace and
struck Xerimor, disrupting the procedure. Using his innate ability to
heal, he somehow managed to restore his guardian to health, resulting in
his own death. The angel, with the corpse of Valeo in tow, escaped
toward the portal at the same moment the daemon general, Morimbuull
strode forth. The result of the opposing forcing passing though the
portal simultaneously, created an implosion, sealing the rift, but
trapping Morimbuull here and Valeo in the daemon realm.

The enraged Morimbuull, angered at his predicament threatened to destroy
the mortals about him. Xerimor had obviously planned for this event.
Using skills he had learned though years of exposure to domination,
necromancy and daemonology, he bound Morimbuull to the realm, forcing
him to serve as his slave, ordering him to instruct of the daemon realms
and the arts of Apostasy. The enraged Morimbuull, once again threatened
Xerimor with his eternal being, but in the end was forced to unwillingly
comply. Upon sealing his pact with Morimbuull, Xerimor announced the
formation of the Apostate Guild, focused on the worship of Lord Sartan
and the delivery of his Holy Word.

But what of Valeo? Lost on the daemon plane... will he be seen again?

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Valnuary, in the year 318 AF.
