The Dauntless

Like wheat before the scythe, Oberion and Fafnir fell prey to the Dauntless.

Lafrin and Ophal were bored. A lifetime dedicated toward honing their talents in battle had sharpened them to an effectiveness unmatched, and they were wanting for excitement, the adrenaline rush of old when they did not know what would result from a battle. It had become stale, an exercise of going through the motions. It was time to recruit.

The idea first came when Ophal crossed paths with the Targossian Farrah, battling the Unsidhe. Surely one strong enough to combat numerous of these could, one day, make for a somewhat passable Dauntless?

And thus did Lafrin challenge Sapience to a battle royale within Annwyn itself, using the environment and dangerous residents within to pitch a true battle, where only one would remain standing in the end. Adventurers from all over Sapience responded to the call, and soon, the battle was under way.

Despite fierce competition from Ashtan, Eleusis, Hashan, and Mhaldor, it was the combined efforts of Targossas that wound up claiming the field, and only three fighters were left in the adapted arena.

Not to be outdone by the pitched battles that lead up to it, the servants of Light held one last, final testiment to strength; the age-old competition of rock, paper, scissors.

Proving his worth, Platonus managed to defeat the others and arrive to his glorious victory unscathed, and Lafrin decided it was time to meet the champion, and give him a warm welcome to the Dauntless. He was locked, unable to so much as twitch, within mere moments.

Though congratulations were in order, and prizes to be given, there was a lot of work to be done for these adventurers to truly become a Dauntless.
