Fortifying the Fortress

Swathed in stinking and moth-eaten robes, a shady figure travelled the
continent in search of those who could assist his people in their
plight. Near-constant raids had brought their supplies to a dangerous
low, their armoury was bare, and their coffers dwindling. Brambles
tearing at his already tattered clothing, he stumbled away from the
gates of Eleusis, where he had been abruptly turned away. Coming across
a bustling grove, he asked those gathered where he might find aid.
Sniggers trailed behind him as he gullibly turned westward and set out
toward the unlikely destination they suggested: Mhaldor.

Arriving at last, the traveller found the city of Evil not only more
welcoming, but interested in providing their assistance. Apostle Dunn
heard out the story of the oppressed orcs and ogres of Dun Valley and,
with little hesitation, agreed to help. Producing a grubby and crumpled
list from his pocket, the messenger asked for a stockpile of new weapons
with which to equip the forces. Sentry Jarrel of the Maldaathi was
quickly dispatched to the forge and began work on clubs, battleaxes, and
more.

Several days later, Messiah Taraza Lichlord was on-hand at the gates of
Mhaldor to deliver the weapons with impassioned words of encouragement.
In thanks for the city's support, the visitor proudly gifted the Messiah
with a feast fit for his Baron: a bag of only the freshest and most
choice kittens. Accepting the unusual present with grace, Taraza wished
them well in their renewed defence efforts against the Church, and the
two parted. Cheers and enthusiastic training broke out as the drawbridge
of Dun Fortress was raised and the new weapons passed out among the
gathered orcs and ogres. When it was lowered again, would-be raiders
found themselves faced with a far more formidable challenge than ever
before.

Penned by My hand on the 15th of Valnuary, in the year 554 AF.
