The Discovery of Enverren Marsh

Early in Phaestian, 384 A.F., a Shadowsnake named Jaizsur Ta'sa noticed
a strange sight on the Bridge to Delos. The nixie Volandria of Riparium
was slumped over near the side of the bridge, her skin parched and
greyish-green, near unconsciousness. The petite water sprite had been
huddled there for nearly half the day while others passed on blithely,
not seeing her tiny, miserable form.

Jaizsur quickly guessed that Volandria needed water. Buckets in hand, he
rushed diligently from the river to Volandria and back, splashing
bucketfuls of her natural element upon the dessicated nixie. Reviving
from Jaizsur's care, Volandria regained full consciousness. She revealed
to Jaizsur that she had left Riparium in search of her sister, Chiada,
who had herself left several years ago. Her sister, Volandria explained,
was stronger than she and could survive longer out of water, where as
Volandria had discovered, she could barely last the walk from Riparium
to Delos.

Jaizsur urged Volandria to return to Riparium, promising her that he
would find Chiada for her. With a string of pearls in hand from
Volandria's hair to show to her sister if he found her, Jaizsur headed
north along the Eastern Road. Two Sentinels who had happened along
joined him in this venture: Greyda Wildfang and Xel Windsong.

At the gypsy village of Manusha at the far north end of the Eastern
Road, Xel found that the young gypsy woman Elena remembered Chiada
passing through the village well. Elena told them that Chiada had
ventured into the all-but-impenetrable marsh to the west of the gypsy
village, drawn by the water there. Elena led the trio to the spot Chiada
had entered through the tall, thick marsh grasses, where she found for
them a way into the marsh as well.

The adventurers travelled through the gloomy marsh. To their surprise,
they came upon a dark castle in the middle of the marsh, the secluded
estate of a noble family named the Enverrens. Exploring further, they
also found a network of underwater caverns beneath a pool in the marsh,
where finally they discovered the culmination of their quest --
Volandria's sister, the nixie Chiada. She received the tidings of her
sister with joy, thanking the adventurers for the lengths they had gone
to bring word from Volandria to her.

The adventurers took their leave of Chiada, with more questions than
answers in their heads. What was the relationship between the strange,
amphibian people of the underwater caverns and the nixie Chiada? What
bound her there that she did not desire to leave? Who were the
Enverrens, and what was the nature of the relationship between the Lord
and Lady of the castle and the nixie? These questions lie open to the
intrepid explorers who journey into the depths of Enverren Marsh.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Phaestian, in the year 384 AF.
