A Dark Affair

The anguished cries of a dying butler echoed across the island of
Mhaldor recently as he pleaded for assistance against the brutal ambush
he encountered en route to the Temple of Indrani. Alas, aid did not
arrive quickly enough, and his ravaged corpse was found in a pool of
rapidly-cooling blood. No sign of his killer (or killers) remained, but
near the body lay a pair of what appeared to be secret love letters
between the servants of Twilight, God of Darkness, and Indrani, the
Demon Queen.

Within the notes were not only professions of affection between the
illicit lovers, but hints of a relationship between the Father of Lies
and the Lady of Sin, as well as allusions to a plot by Twilight to
remove the Obelisk from Hashan and relocate it elsewhere. Though the
purpose of the letters is clear, their discovery raises several
questions. Does the Dark Lord have designs on Mhaldor and Indrani, or is
He simply desirous of severing His ties to His former home? Has the
Demon Queen truly captured Twilight's interest? Who could have known of
the affair between Their servants, and why would they seek to sever a
potential alliance? Is it possible that some deeper, more sinister
scheme is afoot?

Perhaps time will tell, but for now, the answers remain as mysterious as
the deities who might possess them.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Mayan, in the year 340 AF.
