I went on a visit to my place of birth.
I spoke with a man, a cook, as it were.
He was a tad drunk and really quite quirky,
But we cheerfully conversed while he cooked up a turkey.
He told be about a wondrous fruit.
It was his favorite kind, to boot.
So I left to go fetch it and brighten his day,
But when I came back, he was dead.

I went on a visit to my place of birth.
I spoke with a guard, a determined archer.
She was brave, courageous, dedicated to her cause.
And she told me to travel safely throughout the halls.
I told her to travel safely in turn.
I said I'd stop back before my visit adjourned.
And so I left to go greet some others.
But when I came back, she was dead.

I went on a visit to my place of birth.
I spoke with a child, a young little girl.
She was wary and poised to sound the alarm bell.
She'd seen much death for her age, I could tell.
I thought I'd cheer her up, if only a bit.
I'd fetch her a doll with which she could sit.
And so I left to go find one for her.
But when I came back, she was dead.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Ero, in the year 825 AF.
