I can think of few better ways to celebrate an Achaean birthday than with excessive amounts of rewarded violence, and so I’m pleased to bring you some major updates to the Dauntless queueing systems.

First, there is now a pairs queue. You can join the pairs queue and when there are enough valid people (on the tick as usual) it’ll form two random teams and set you to murdering one another. This does not have the ‘focus on enemies as priority’ that standard Oniar does: you can be partnered with your most loathed enemy just as easily as your most beloved ally.

Second, and the much larger addition: the tournament mode. All of the details can be found in HELP ARENA TEAMS, but the brief summary is you will now be able to form long lasting teams that can register each combat rankings month and face off against one another in the tournament queue. These are three against three battles and your teams can be up to six, the helpfile covers how that works.

There are new rankings for PAIRS and TEAMS. I’ll also note I’ve set this up to use a different rating model to the solo Oniar system. If it proves to be superior which I suspect it will, we’ll move solo over – but just in case we’ll wait and watch (and wouldn’t do it half way through an active season regardless).

In addition, there are a few general improvements:

– Fixed a weird edge case where matches could be going on at season cutover – all Oniar matches are now forceably terminated before season results are calculated.

– Top three results for Oniar results (solo/pairs/teams) are now posted to the new Dauntless news section at season end.

– When it comes to the queue cooldown, both members in one on one Oniar battles get a similar cooldown now, rather than one getting functionally double the other’s.

– Added your class to the output of combat status. Not retroactive unfortunately since there is no way to do that, but it is there going forward.
