The hour is once more upon us: the last classlead round for 2025 is at hand.
The classlead process is how we balance classes and add new abilities to skills as appropriate, and is generally the time when you can get your voices heard on issues of combat balance.
For those of you unfamiliar with the classlead process (or who would just like a refresher), here are the basics:
- Classleads are anonymous.
- Each person can submit up to ten classlead reports. Please do not utilise alternative characters to bypass this limit: I will be annoyed (and yes, I can tell).
- Your reports should supply reasoning alongside the perceived problem: if something is too strong/weak, you should always state why. It's best to avoid drawing comparisons to other classes, although sometimes this is appropriate. Use your best judgement!
- You should attempt to supply multiple solutions (where applicable - some cases are fairly cut and dry).
There are full details along with command breakdowns under HELP CLASSLEADS and the CLASSLEAD command.
I have made some small changes this round to facilitate easier commenting:
- You may now comment on any submitted report, there is no need to wait for the commenting phase. We will still have this phase of the process as usual, but I know this is a pain point since people try to cram it all in during that window when they could very easily have done so in a more relaxed manner over the submission period. Additionally, this will more easily facilitate getting community feedback on reports still in the system, since these naturally are already there and there is no reason to wait for commenting if people have thoughts.
- There was a previous limit on how many reports you could comment on. I've drastically raised this (by an order of magnitude), so there is no longer a need to hold your commenting for reports you feel strongly about.
Classlead submissions will run through the week, closing at 0 gmt on Monday the 17th of November.

"Grey mist settles on the hushed quay of New Hope,
where convent bells once braided dawn to prayer.
Their copper tongues lie quiet now,
cold beneath a spreading stain of iron.
A widow stands upon the tide-slick stones;
her lantern tilts, its sputtering flame
recalls a sister's voice long drowned,
a promise pared to silence by the sea.
She names no killers, only absence,
and feeds the surf a strand of silver hair.
Within the ruined cloister, walls remember
how scholars traced forbidden circles
round a shard of bridling light.
They sang of duty, bound in wax and vellum,
yet the hymn turned sharp:
cut sister from sister, truth from breath,
left hope to bloom in candle smoke alone.
Gladius walked that corridor of echoes,
seeking verdict, seeking voice.
Few knew the hunger buried in his breast,
fewer still the shape of what was taken.
On a night of splintered rigging
pirate weapons split the dark;
Vorondil hewed the final thread,
and captain fell: no court, no plea,
only the quiet acceptance of the deep.
Now parchment drifts on hollow wind,
ink weeps, memory congeals.
The case is closed by claw and shrapnel,
witness lost to mortal rage.
Yet in the vaulted hush of the archive,
unused tomes breathe open,
revealing the sinuous path of every oath
that led to this undone day.
Let the record show:
one drowned prophetess,
one widow crowned in salt,
one knight fractured by stolen light,
one village trading vows for steel,
and in the hush between each name,
a question none may answer:
was any of it justice, or only the echo
of a covenant forsaken?
The lantern guttered; the inquest drowned;

Summary: Following an attack by the pirates of Captain Blackgale, or Sir Gladius Dorn, a particular Targossian murdered the shackled man before his trial, silencing all secrets that might be revealed, forever.

- HUNT is no longer a dex roll to evade the ticks and will instead be a consistent skill based roll.

- STAFFCAST is now dodgeable when not under convergence (very high accuracy).
Bladedance
- All basic bladedance attacks are now dodgeable.
- Conditional bladedance damage is not dodgeable (i.e. the extra damage dealt when striking an already damaged limb).
- EARWORM damage is not dodgeable.
Charnel
- Nothing in Charnel is dodgeable.
Composition
- Nothing in composition is dodgeable.
Crystalism
- Nothing in Crystalism is dodgeable.
Curses
- Nothing in Curses is dodgeable.
Devotion
- Nothing in Devotion is dodgeable.
Discipline and clones
- Nothing is dodgeable.
Domination
- Nothing in domination is dodgeable.
Dragoncraft
- Everything that was dodgeable under the old system is dodgeable under the new one.
Duress
- Nothing in Duress is dodgeable, due to being asphyxiation damage. See announce for commentary.
Elementalism
- BOMBARD is now dodgeable.
- DEEPFREEZE is now dodgeable(AOE, extremely accurate).
- FREEZE is now dodgeable.
- FULMINATE is now dodgeable.
- HAILSTORM is now dodgeable(AOE).
* - MAGMA is now dodgeable.
- STORMHAMMER is still not dodgeable. I may revisit this, but I feel this generally serves more of a closer roll still. I'm aware this one might be a somewhat contentious choice.
Emulation
- Nothing in Emulation is dodgeable.
Excision
- Nothing in Excision is dodgeable.
Formulation
- Nothing in formulation is dodgeable.
Groves
- Nothing in groves is dodgeable.
Hypnosis
- Nothing in Hypnosis is dodgeable.
Ignition
- Nothing in ignition is currently dodgeable. This will change, but it will require further discussion.
Kaido
- Nothing in Kaido is dodgeable.
Memorium
- WRACK is now dodgeable unless it has any kind of plague modifier on the damage.
Metamorphosis
- All HYDRA attacks are now dodgeable.
- All misc morph attacks that were previously dodgeable under the old system are dodgeable under the new one.
- Failed INCINERATE is now dodgeable.
- INFERNO is now dodgeable (AOE).
- MAUL remains dodgeable under the new system in contexts it was dodgeable before. Maul augmentations remain undodgeable. General MAUL accuracy has gone up slightly, though not by much.
- SHRED is now dodgeable.
- STAMPEDE is now dodgeable.
- Wyvern FRENZY is now dodgeable.
Necromancy
- DECAY is now dodgeable.
- TAINT is now dodgeable.
- VENGEANCE is not currently dodgeable, as this is unblockable damage. To be discussed in upcoming classlead round.
Occultism
- BODYWARP is now dodgeable.
- CHAOSRAYS is now dodgeable(AOE).
- INSTILL is now dodgeable (unless you have a Glaaki truename).
- WARP is now dodgeable (when not used at ranged).
- Not that this probably ever came up, but fixed an assumedly ancient bug where if you got truenamed under level 30 instead of doing reduced damage, it did the reduced damage then did the full damage anyway. Those poor newbies.
Oppression
- nothing is dodgeable.
Pervasion
- All of Pervasion damage is now dodgeable (unless in a context you cannot dodge).
Pestilence
- All pestilence damage is now dodgeable, except for SACRIFICE which joins the undodgeable AOE club.
Physiology
- None of physiology is dodgeable.
Pranks
- BOP remains dodgeable in contexts it was before.
- BACKHANDSPRING is now dodgeable.
- HANDSPRING is now dodgeable.
- VENT is now dodgeable.
Propagation
- LACERATE is now dodgeable, unless they already have a slashed throat.
- THORNREND is now dodgeable.
Psionics
- Nothing in Psionics is dodgeable.
Puppetry
- Nothing in Puppetry is dodgeable.
Reclamation
- LASH is now dodgeable (AOE).
Sagas
- Nothing in Sagas is dodgeable.
Sculpting
- POWDERISE is now dodgeable.
Shadowmancy
- REAP and CULL are now dodgeable. This does not apply to the conditional aspects of the attacks (such as degeneration capstone).
Shikudo
- Functionally all of shikudo is now dodgeable. Exceptions apply in the cases where nothing is dodgeable (prone/SoA bypassing attacks).
Skirmishing
- Everything that was dodgeable under the old system is dodgeable under the new one.
Spiritlore
- Nothing in Spiritlore is dodgeable.
Spirituality
- Everything that was dodgeable under the old system is dodgeable under the new one.
Sublimation
- COMBUSTION is now dodgeable (AOE).
Subterfuge
- GARROTE vs players remains dodgeable against standing targets, though it is now a skill based roll and not a dex one. It is likely slightly more accurate in this case as a result, but that isn't saying much as it is still very inaccurate in this case.
Tarot
- Nothing in Tarot is dodgeable.
Tekura
- Everything that was dodgeable under the old system is dodgeable under the new one. Things that were conditionally guaranteed to miss still miss (so axk, throws if not prone etc).
Telepathy
- CRUSH without a mindlock is now dodgeable.
Terminus
- TOOROS is not dodgeable, as it has built in cooldowns already.
- Tuad is now dodgeable (AOE, very high accuracy though).
Twoarts
- All of twoarts that was dodgeable under the old system remains dodgeable under the new system.
- MULTISLASH has been reworked to be a roll independent of target's dex for the subsequent slash chances (it gets harder to make each subsequent slash roll).
Venom
- Nothing in Venom is dodgeable.
Vodun
- Nothing in Vodun is dodgeable. Yes, shaman cannot be dodged.
Weaponmastery
- If noted, flat tohit means the abilities do not scale to weapon tohit. The default behaviour is they do.
- Everything that was dodgeable under the old system is dodgeable under the new one.
- ARC is now dodgeable(AOE). This tohit is flat.
- LUNGE is now dodgeable. This tohit is flat.
Weatherweaving
- HAILSTONE is now dodgeable.
- WATERSPOUT is now dodgeable.
Weaving
- All weaving weapon attacks are now dodgeable, excluding FLURRY as this is covered by one of the general undodgeable cases (ignores SoA).
Zeal
- PURGE is now dodgeable.
Misc
- Being afflicted with AEON no longer makes you immune to dodging. This was previously introduced to make the jester aeonlock more reliable, and this is no longer necessary with the dexterity update.
- All clumsiness involving weapons has been moved to a standard roll system. Previously this was a modifier on tohit into dex, which could result in either clumsiness being utterly crippling or utterly inaffective.
- WEARINESS no longer reduces the value of dex in the new dodge calculations - this was a patch fix that is no longer needed.
- The GUISE talisman has had its damage type changed from unblockable to psychic.
- The GUISE talisman proc is now dodgeable(AOE).
- The CRUCIBLE talisman proc is now dodgeable (AOE).
