“On the Life of the Muse Ferenthal,” Afterword
…and so Ferenthal, Muse of Lightweaving became Ferenthal, the Witness of Love.
Post Scriptum:
On a personal note, my sister’s passing remains a difficult reality to accept. The nature of Divinity is a mystery even to the very greatest minds of the proudest traditions of scholarship and historical research, which makes fully contending with the extent of the change she has undergone nearly impossible.
I can confidently record, however, that the change is nothing short of absolute. Nothing remains of the spirit that was our beloved Ferenthal. Who and what the Witness of Love truly is, I cannot fully describe; the realms will doubtlessly need to wait for this entity to come into the full bloom of her maturity and sagacity to ascertain her nature.
I admit freely that we miss our sister. We miss her laughter and her mischief as we do her patience and her wisdom. In times of great turmoil, she was the anchor of our Lord’s worship in these lands. She taught and guided all freely. It is a grievous loss not only to we who remain, but to all who will come after. Bereft of her energy, future trials will almost certainly prove more harrowing.
Her destruction begets another consequence, as well: what Lightweavings remain are doubtlessly priceless and inimitable now. Unlike the rest of our domains, the knowledge of their crafting was not widely passed on. Any who retain such an example would do well to treasure it forevermore, as the knowledge of the making of the sparks whence they are brought to life died with her.
Finally, I hope that with my Lord’s Lament secured and the realm of Love restored to its more balanced condition, these realms will begin to heal. The uneven nature of emotion during this crisis taught the Muses much. In a way, my sister’s legacy continues to illuminate a path for us… no doubt we shall be turned to a new purpose these coming years. I hope, in time, we each bring to the efforts and cares of the mortal world as great a boon as she did in life.
For now, we honour her in private. Let Ferenthal-as-was be a name recalled with gratitude, as Ferenthal-that-is becomes a name invoked with hope.
Signed,
Rennibrande, Muse of History
