Go Forth, Children of the Eastern Plains
The recently published points of our representative’s conclave gave me cause for elation.
It is no secret that there have been regular fissures emerging within what we once assumed was the bedrock of a safe, secure society. I lost my own second-mother in the Vigilant uprisings, and the onslaught we suffered in our outposts and Compliances from demonic forces was well-reported in these pages. Furthermore, there is a common theme in assessments by security experts about how we have been repeatedly blindsided in recent decades, even centuries.
That the Infernal substrate proclaimed alliance with their ruled peoples, the Akaen, is something that has been given too little attention. I, at least, have believed for some time that we should all be wary of and take precautions against such creatures. Whoever these people are, and whatever their reverence for the deeds of an Infernal Prince, our society can only be harmed if we risk permitting another Vigilance movement to emerge within our political class.
And so the vote means not only the prohibition of Vigilance views and political allegiance, embedded in the very veins and arteries of our legal code, but it furthermore ensures and provides funding for new security cordons on the approaches to the homeworld, to Sanctus and the Kelstaad plains.
No longer will we suffer from the open border that offered the Vigilant such opportunity for subversion, or have our free market policies exploited by extraplanar actors. No more will we be at risk from Rajamalan crime and enslavement of peaceful travellers.
Nor, for that matter, are we to be endangered by Pelagia-esque genocides and purges for “seditious behaviour” detailed in recent Inquirer articles. We will not sleepwalk into another crisis of our freedom or society.
But this is not isolation, like Illythrin. We are not hiding behind high walls.
It is security.
As reported in these pages by our investigators, Sorathia has pledged there will be no objection from the Solarn. Administrator Chellen and Emissary Ulghoch likewise support our proposals in pursuit of reasonable expectations for future venture safety.
We are not putting the legions into the fray. There is no need for the Liberation. We are simply taking on the rights and burdens of a responsible great power.
The time is now, people of the Tribes. Now is our opportunity to make sure we bring peace, safety, and security not just to our outposts and efforts elsewhere in the Traverse, but to the sacred earth of our home.
