Walking Chivalry’s Path
For many long months entry into the passages and catacombs beneath Aster Keep had stymied the Knights. Their search was for realms that might grant them expansion of their holdings in both duchy and Guild. And it was through the (very well-compensated) efforts of the tash’la architect Bantaishe that they at last reached the first of those most ancient chambers: a coenobium, of a type long lost after the Fall of Seleucar.
Sending letter and missive to Moghedu’s knights, it was Sir Temelin who answered the request of Knight Arbiter Aodfionn and Knight Regent Aerek Ancyrion. In a voyage to Meropis, he spoke of old customs once held by the Castle of Twelve, decayed by the Succession Wars and lost in the Empire’s fall. Abandoned too by Moghedu, but by them remembered still.
In ancient traditions, knights of the Twelve had walked Chivalry’s path within the chamber’s silver circle. Through searches of Aster Keep’s records the Guild had moreover uncovered a journal of Duke Davis Kephry, who spoke of terrible dread and dead alike unearthed by knights of old. And, through the efforts of Aster Malik, sealed up, paved over, and long forgotten. Through the efforts of twelve brave knights and a priest of the Logos the way beyond the coenobium had been warded by magic. In the testimony of Duke Davis Kephry, perhaps forever.
For so long as but one of those twelve held to their oath, the ward would remain.
For so long as but one of those twelve continued in vigil, the ward would remain.
Only Knights of an Order could walk Chivalry’s path beyond the slain priest’s lingering magic. And so under the instruction of Sir Temelin the Guild’s Knight Arbiter, a Gaian Knight, and Knight Regent, of the Order of Aster Malik, were the first to stride into starlight and find the halls that had known no living touch since the Dark Ages of Meropis and Seleucar’s Fall.
