An Invasion of Arms and Culture

The peace that followed the defeat of the Prince of Woe was short-lived, for a new and unforeseen threat was sailing to Sapience's shores.

The Karthic invaders struck suddenly and fiercely, raiding all six great cities of the continent simultaneously. Of these, only Ashtan and Eleusis managed to repulse the Kartha; the other four were plundered for treasure before a general withdrawal was called.

With the enemy holed up in their fortified encampments, the immediate future was unclear. Would the Kartha sally forth for another assault? Or would they leave?

Then, the voice of Oriya, a servant of the God of Stories rang out across the continent. A parlay was called atop the Great Rock. The chieftains of the Kartha met with the leaders of Sapience's cities to discuss a truce.

Apart from the cessation of hostilities, the conversation resulted in a tentative agreement to open the Kartha's camps to the adventurers of the mainland. Peace would reign, so long as Sapience stayed its violence in exchange for open dialogue with the interlopers.

In less than a month, the camps were opened. Adventurers flooded into each, learning something of the origins and culture of the seafarers from the storytellers.

Thus began a great cultural exchange.

Through the next two and a half years, the peoples of Karth and Sapience freely exchanged stories, participated in contests physical and intellectual, and spoke of the Gods. Representatives of the Kartha visited the cities they had raided only a year before as guests, and the leaders of the cities of Sapience asked pressing questions of these visitors in the hopes of learning more of Karth's history.

As all things must, this sharing of traditions came to a close on the 16th of Miraman, 928AF. The representative of the tribes called the peoples of Karth and Sapience to one final gathering, promising to offer a glimpse into Karthic culture unlike anything the mainland had seen before.

Summary: Warriors from the far-off land known as Karth made landfall in Sapience and a battle ensued. However, peace was soon negotiated and the two peoples went from enemies to cooperators as a cultural exchange took place for two and a half years.

Penned by My hand on the 12th of Ero, in the year 928 AF.
