An illness has befallen you all.

Those of you who were able to visit the travelling troupe of merchants
earlier this month (better known in these lands as the itinerant bazaar)
may have taken the opportunity to purchase a small trinket from my good
friend Quaen'a. These orbs are filled with a mystical sand that has a
number of lovely effects - when properly contained. The orbs, however,
are very fragile and prone to breakage, and the side effects once the
sands are released into the air can be very unpleasant, to say the
least.

Now, some may surmise that an epidemic of clumsiness has beset the
inhabitants of Sapience. Others will blame the malicious nature of their
peers. Still others might agree that temptation was simply too great,
despite DIRE warnings about the delicate nature of the trinkets. But I
shall not name names. You know who you are!

All you really need to know is that mistakes were made, orbs were
broken, and now we all face the consequences.

Thankfully, Quaen'a had the presence of mind to call upon me, and I have
agreed to rectify this grand disaster. For the next few months, I will
remain in Sapience, collecting grains of the ruby sand from these orbs.
In due time I hope to be able to reverse the effects you are all
experiencing.

Those who assist in bringing me ten grains of sand will have their cures
expedited significantly. Furthermore, you will be immune to any future
outbreaks.

You will find me at the bar at the Brass Lantern Inn, just a short walk
to the southwest of the Cave.

Penned by My hand on the 13th of Daedalan, in the year 589 AF.
