Archaeon -

Your letter was amusing. Allow me to enlighten others as to its contents prior to explaining my mirth:

--------
Dear Grandmistress,

I hear you were a great figure in the old Sentarii guild. I write to you today, in an attempt to rekindle your passion for Good. I am unsure of your past experiences, but I am assuming that you saw the rise of the Bloodsworn Gods, before They became their current incarnations. Thus I write to you, in askance, that you once again put sparks to the kindling which burned in you in times of old. When you were a follower of Good. Cyrene allows Chaos Lords to walk it's streets unfettered, yet the word of the Bloodsworn Gods are derided and cast aside. Is this what you wish to see happening? You know the dangers of Chaos, how it's taint seeps into Creation and changes it for the worse. Thus I implore you, find that passion once again and cast off your neutrality and take a stand against those that wish to harm Creation. Inaction is as bad as actively harming Creation, and I do not wish to see any old Shallamese walk that path. I beg of you, come back to the Light.

'Unsure of my past experiences'. Indeed you are. "When you were a follower of Good'. There is no past tense, young one, I continue to serve Good even though Targossas did not want me. Asking me to return to the Light? The Light didn't want me when they got a shiny new city and could more freely deny entry. And then to see the "Good" city side with the Others to tear down native Achaeans.

Indulge me, here is a copy of my farewell letter to Those-who-would-one-day-be-Targossians, which will hopefully enlighten you to my past experiences.

Subj: My Resignation

Resigned.

I suppose that is what I am.

Resigned to being 'undesirable' because this wasn't a conflict before, nor did I think it would be now. I fully understand that this isn't 'New Shallam', but it hurts, frankly. I have lost my home once. And now to have that which I would have gladly accepted as my new home home, reject me so completely, hurts. It has been intimated that I could reject my Lord, or ask for a release from those vows 'because I made my vows to Good first'. If I were to be so fickle as to seek release or outright break those oaths, how desirable could I really be?

At 18, I stepped off of Loom Island and chose to join the Sentaari and Shallam.

Never have I wavered in my service to my guild, house, or city.

I once served as the Steward of Shallam (yes, there were Stewards before Carri) and created, implemented, and executed the Shallamese Tax System for the benefit of my city.

I was a member of the original Ivory Order under Lord Deucalion, serving Him wholly until the dispersing of His Divine Essence at the final Battle of Death's Heart. I was there. I was also there when Maran ascended, combining with my Lord's essence and becoming Lord Pentharian.

I am the last of the Kail'teth.

I served as the head of novices for the Sentaari with my sister Eyliria, creating our Oath that has been used for centuries. I was also the Grandmistress of Flowers for a fifty-year term, which was never matched. In both rounds of Icon wars, the Ivory Rose was the last Shallamese icon to fall. I designed many items for my house, procuring a shop for us to use and subsequently running it for nigh on two centuries while also serving as Scribe of the Customs and Keeper of Tomes. I assisted Grandmistress Chie to safety as the city fell while carrying out the contents of the Chamber of Knowledge.

I was very close to breaking with Shallam when several of my housemembers were ousted for voicing their opinions and it was voted for the Sentaari to leave the city. The wrong was righted and we stayed out
of a sense of duty.

Once upon a time, I did fight. I was a valkyrie for the city alongside Dresden, Dingo, Aldair, Czanthria, and Trenia. And probably others. Those days are long, long past.

I followed Ashed and Tanaar as Maritime Minister for the city, increasing and improving our fleet. Yet it is this very love for the Sea that has sealed my fate.

I am a High Priest of the Sea in my Order, and believe me, the irony is not lost.

For 400 years, have I been Sentaari and Shallamese. For 400 years I have served Good and Light. And now, this line in the sand is impassible. I have already received invitations to join both Ashtan and Mhaldor, but cannot accept them because I cannot forsake Good. Yet I am seen as 'not Good enough'. This jaded, bitter sadness that fills my very being is lothsome....but according to the Bloodsworn, I have only myself to blame because I will not break my oaths nor ask for them to be broken.

Oh well.

I wish you all luck. I have a feeling you're going to need it.
