A Fond Farewell

Remember the first time when we both met?
The verdant battlefield where I awoke
and you, the one who stood against that threat
and failed. It was with mild disdain I spoke
Of errors made and missteps that you took.
But look at you. You learned, you fought, you bled
until your heart was weary, your faith shook.
A different path called; there, your fetters shed,
you came into your own another way.
No longer young, no longer just a girl,
your toddling steps bloomed into a ballet,
a grain of sand became a shining pearl.
My student, sail now into memory,
your star shall shine above the bloody sea.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Aeguary, in the year 809 AF.
