The Case of a Bridge Too Far

Dearest Achaea,

How wonderful it is to once more write to the world at large! Today, I bring you wonderful news. But first, I suppose I shall provide a brief summary for those of you who missed this month's events.

It all began with a very, very greedy atavian named Trole. Trole was no different from any other pickpocket, once upon a time. He did what had to be done to survive, to get ahead. He sought advice from my organisation, sometimes shelter and companionship. But Trole was like so many others before him, and simply leading a comfortable life was not enough. His little head filled with delusions of grandeur, and he began to see himself as less a thief and more as an artiste.

He turned his sights to bigger and bigger targets. The librarian of the Occultists, the eggshell of Mr. Quackers, all of Haag's teeth. More and more he took, more and more he forgot his place as a petty thief. And then, one day, he decided to perform his biggest caper yet.

One day, he stole the entirety of the Delosian Bridge. He might even have gotten away with it, but the questionable cunning of Chief Inspector Wavel El-Mellon Cloussoi the Third was his end. Gathering clues throughout the realms with a team of adventurers, he eventually located the great thief under the eastern bridge of Delos. There, he proclaimed that he would forever be famed for the grandest heist of all history, until my associates taught him otherwise. Now he has gone from a life of crime to a life of mime.

No longer will the poor, defenceless common people be helpless against cruel petty thieves. My organisation will ensure that all stolen items are returned to their rightful owners - as long as they are willing to pay a modest sum for labour costs.

For those of you with a tendency to 'find' very valuable personal items, you will register with our organisation or you will quickly find yourselves honing your skills at charades.

You need only find one of my agents. Trole, as it happens, is the most obvious one.

With love,

Felisse.

Summary: Trole stole the Delosian Bridge and paid the toll. The cat has got his tongue, and Felisse and her fences now run the thieves of Achaea.

Penned by My hand on the 11th of Valnuary, in the year 806 AF.
